Project: Custom Website

Client: Edmonton Wedding & Boudoir Photographer

Destination: A Custom website with structure, visibility, & vibes

Journey Style: Sentimental, romantic, easy-going

Context:

For years, Janine’s website had become one of those background stressors that she didn’t have time to deal with, but was losing literal sleep over.

She’d hired someone years earlier to create her branding and website, and while the branding still felt like her, the site itself was another story. The visual side had been prioritized, but the function? The SEO? The actual doing-its-job part?

A bit left in the dust.

And the longer it sat, the more it started to weigh on her. Janine was genuinely anxious that her website was costing her leads—and worse, that she had this beautiful body of work living on a site that wasn’t supporting where her business was headed.

Challenge:

Janine had a lot on her site. And we mean a LOT.

After more than ten years as a photographer, she had blogs, portfolios, images, stories, and years of work built up across her website. But so much of that content reflected an older version of her business and not the one she ran now.

Then there was the technical side: image optimization, accessibility, site speed, SEO structure, and the general challenge of making a photo-heavy website perform better.

Solution:

We built Janine a custom website that could finally support the depth of her work and the direction of her business.

Part of that meant getting her off an old hosting platform that was costing her over $600 a year and moving her domain and workspace to Squarespace and Google instead (cutting her costs roughly in half!).

From there, we migrated her high-ranking blogs and portfolio pieces over to the new site and restructured them to be more reader-friendly and more SEO-friendly. Plus, we gave Janine custom training videos so she felt confident publishing future blog content.

On the copy and design side, we wanted the site to feel like stepping into Janine’s world.

Her brand has this incredibly thoughtful, sentimental, slightly whimsical quality to it. There’s deep care there and a no-BS presence we wanted to lean in to. So, we created a scrapbook-inspired feel with interactive moments like the memory box feature, giving the site texture, personality, and emotional pull without losing clarity.

Results:

After launch, Janine said everything felt so much more pulled together that she knew she’d start carrying that same branding and design consistency into every part of her business.

She also said the clearer messaging gave her more confidence moving forward because now the site actually reflects what she wants to say and how she wants to be seen.

Happy Rider:

“You both really listened to everything I said, and I felt so understood. Even things I didn’t realize I had said were incorporated into the new site.”

“ My new website is beautiful. It feels so much more like me and is way nicer to use. I should have done this ages ago!”
